  • a) Pathogenic vs. Friendly Bacteria:
  • Pathogens or disease producing bacteria such as salmonella and E. coli are opportunistic and are constantly searching for places to colonize our intestinal walls.

    When they do, the result is intestinal distress such as constipation or diarrhea.

    Waste that has been in the large intestine for too long becomes toxic and becomes a breeding ground for pathogenic bacteria.

    The Bifidobacterium and other friendly bacteria compete with the pathogens for nutrients and attachment sites.

    When Bifidobacteria are abundant, they obtain all the nutrients and attachment sites so that pathogens pass through the intestines and out of the body without doing harm.

  • b) The Anti-biotic Effect:
  • Bifidobacterium also protect themselves and hence benefit our body through the production of the anti-microbials, acetic and lactic acids.

    These create an environment in which bacteria that require an alkaline atmosphere cannot proliferate.

    They also create an anaerobic environment which means that those bacteria that require oxygen cannot survive.

    Some of the anti-microbial substances that are produced by Lactobacillus during fermentation are lactic acid, acetic acid, benzoic acid and hydrogen peroxide.

    L. acidophillus also has the amazing ability to inhibit pathogens by excreting three natural 'antibiotics'; acidophilin, acidolin and lactocidin. L. bulgarius produces bulgarican.

    The colonies of L. acidophillus and bulgarius are surrounded by these natural 'antibiotics' creating a zone of inhibition of varying diameter where certain pathogens cannot exist.

    Acidophilin and bulgarican have been shown to inhibit the growth of the food poisoners Clostridium botulinum, Staphyloccus aureus, Escherichia coli and some Samonella species.

    Just as you can eat too many fresh cherries and have diarrhea as a result, you need to determine your own tolerance and your own goals.

  • 1. For Maintenance and Prevention:
  • - Grains and Greens- Nutritional Powder Start by taking 1/4 tsp.(1/2 gm) per day.

    Over 3 to 4 weeks, gradually increase your serving to 1-3 tsp. per day.

    This can be mixed with any Grainfields liquid or into a smoothie to make a pleasant early day 'power' drink.

    A 55 gram bottle of Grains & Greens contains 22 servings of 1 tsp. each and a 165 gram bottle contains 66 servings of 1 tsp.each.

    Start with 1-3 oz. (31 - 93 mls) per day. This can be diluted in water or mixed with Grainfields powders if desired.

    Over a number of weeks you may gradually increase your intake for a powerful digestive aid and a larger dosage of friendly bacteria.

  • Please note - take only as much as you are able to tolerate comfortably and read the first line above about cherries again.

    This is a strong dosage so if healing reactions are too uncomfortable, reduce the dosage and increase amounts more slowly.

    You can check your progress by looking at your tongue.

    If it has a heavy white coating, this may be an indication of Candida overgrowth or digestive insufficiency so as your tongue returns to pink, you’re making progress!

  • Please Note:Chances are you will feel worse before you feel better. This is the result of Candida 'die-off'.
  • It is important to let this occur as it is a necessary stage.

    As long as the Candida is dormant within the tissues, it is impossible to clear completely.

  • 3. For an Overall Cleanse:
  • Use the Candida Cleanse guidelines at half dosages. If you are constipated, you may need to take more liquids in order to help 'scrub' the intestines.

  • 4. For All Digestive Disorders:
  • One probable cause of digestive disorders is a deficiency of enzymes and the friendly bacteria and yeasts that break down food in our guts.

    Another overall consideration is that if gut flora have been destroyed by chlorine, flouride, antibiotics, food preservatives or synthetic Vitamin C (ascorbic acid), there is less protection against pathogenic bacteria setting up house.

  • Take both the liquids and the powders together as described in #1 (Maintenance and Prevention Program).
  • If this is tolerable then you can increase the amounts gradually.

    We also suggest adding an omega-3 essential fatty acid source like Mum’s Hemp Oil to one’s diet as well because these essential fatty acids are crucial for many body processes.

    Supplying the body with the sixteen enzymes produced in the all Grainfields products will improve digestion and since our digestive power determines how much nutrition we are able to assimilate from food, we will feel better in the long run.

  • Additional Considerations:
  • Some people have reported feeling nauseated when initially taking the Grainfields Liquids.. This may be due to an overly acidic condition.

    The Grainfields Liquids are high in lactic acid with a pH of around 2.6, and may initially cause an unsettled stomach for a short period of time, but it is important to continue to take the product as doing so will rebalance a hyper-acidic condition in the gut. Some people find the powder to be initially constipating.

    Simply take more product (preferably Liquid) to increase the number of scrubbers (bacteria & enzymes) working in the guts.

    If the bowels are too loose then reduce one’s intake.
